The work began on walls, and the murals have run alongside the paintings ever since. They use the same material, gestural mass and flat colour, at the scale of a building, and follow the same shifts: hard black signs on a sprayed field in 2017, masses cut into bodies in 2021–22, fields stopped by a straight edge or opened by bare wall in 2024, a grid laid over gesture in 2026. On a wall, the ground is never his own; windows, pipes, cornices, and rust enter the picture. The exchange runs both ways: in 2018, a canvas painted on a wall like a mural was cut into paintings.
